This is my review of Attraction 2: Invasion, a futuristic fantasy action thriller movie for the Attraction series from 2020. It's about a girl receiving superhuman powers. The Attraction 2: Invasion film is watchable, but weak, I only recommend it to dedicated fans of the genre.

I've seen the movie pop up as a recommendation, so I've read the preview, and it sounded interesting. However, it also said it's a sequel to Attraction (2017), so I started with that one, and as Attraction was a fun movie, I continued with Invasion. I didn't watch the trailer.
The Attraction 2: Invasion movie is about a girl receiving superhuman powers.
The story (by Andrey Zolotarev & Oleg Malovichko) is slow and doesn't make much sense. It's weak as a stand-alone film, and doesn't really work as a sequel to Attraction. There are some character arcs. There are plenty of logical problems.
The cinematography and the visuals are okay okay. Some scenes are interesting visually. The special effects are acceptable. The movie is designed to be watched on wide screen.
We don't really get to know the characters, they are basically stereotypes. They are the same ones from the previous movie, but we don't get any introductions to them. The actors are fine, though.
The music (by Igor Vdovin) is okay.
While the first movie, Attraction (2017) was interesting, but stupid, this sequel was boring, and even more stupid then the previous one.
Attraction 2: Invasion is a weak futuristic fantasy action thriller, that I think only dedicated fans of the genre would enjoy.
My experience
I was not satisfied with Attraction 2: Invasion (2020). I prefer stories with well-thought, logical plots, and Attraction 2: Invasion was anything but that.
Rating: Weak (2- out of 3 points). Attraction 2: Invasion looks good, but the story is weak.
Enjoyment: Weak (2- out of 3 points). Attraction 2: Invasion is irritating.
Rewatchability: I'm not sure. I think it's mostly the surprise of the story that makes you feel interested.
Chance of watching it again: Very low. (Update: About 2 years after watching it, I've already forgot everything about this movie, but I'm almost sure I'll find better movies to watch.)
Chance of watching a sequel: I know I'd probably watch it.

If you like futuristic action or thriller movies, you might like Attraction 2: Invasion.
If you can get through the first half hour of the movie still interested, the rest of Invasion will be something similar.
If you enjoyed the Attraction (2017), you might be interested in this story.
If you don't mind illogical elements in your movies, you might be able to enjoy this.
If you hate subtitles, you don't have to worry, there's already an English audio dub for Invasion (2020).
If you prefer visuals over story, the movie has some nice scenes.
Do you need to see the first film to enjoy this?
You will probably able to understand the whole thing without watching Attraction (2017), but you'll be able to appreciate a lot of things a lot more. Characters were established in that film, here they are used without any introductions.

The trailer
The trailer has plenty of spoilers.
If you prefer spoilers, it's a great trailer for the Attraction 2: Invasion film. If you prefer to avoid spoilers, it will ruin the movie for you.
Promise of the first scene
The movie begins with the brief summary of the previous episode, Attraction (2017). Then in the next scene we see that the people of Earth have a space sensor system set up so they would detect any further spaceship approaching. Then we see an alien spaceship flying through the satellites. I assume we'll see aliens landing on Earth, and doing things.
Execution: It was a weak promise, but at least those aliens really did land on Earth, and did things.

Analysis of the story - Attraction 2: Invasion, movie (2020)
I didn't like the story, the problems of the plot prevented me from enjoying Attraction 2: Invasion.
The message of the story
I'm not sure there's one.
The structure of the story
The events of the Invasion film are played sequentially, following the same storyline.
There's no single viewpoint character.
It has the usual arc of the dramatic structure - introduction, action, resolution. However, the introduction is really rushed, I think the creators wanted to build on previous knowledge based of watching the first movie.
Things I liked
Problematic elements
It would be hard to list all of them. Most of the movie didn't make sense, and most of the "twists" were built on the stupidity of characters, so they could move a stupid plot forward.
Alien logic: The aliens are incapable of feeling hatred, sorrow, or other negative emotions, if I understood it right. Yet, there's a scene when Artyom is able to make the alien guy punch him in the face until he started to bleed. This makes it look like that either the aliens lied to them, or just that the script writer wanted to include a stupid scene, to show it that he really does have feelings. If the aliens are capable of violence, then their decisions are not always based on logic, as they told us.
Media takeover: The aliens take over the mass media and phones, to be able to find the girl with the device. One of their tricks is that they call everyone on their cell phones and tell them that the girl is a terrorist that has blown up their house, causing the dead of relatives. One of the soldiers is told this, and he is convinced, even though he can clearly see that this is a deception on the aliens part, as every people is told the same thing, and all of the houses couldn't have been blown up by the girl. Also, he was already told by his superiors that they cannot use their cell phones.
Alien remote control: We see that the aliens are able to take over our devices, both electronical or mechanical. They are also able to send shuttles, and they have robotic drones to carry on tasks. Why do they need to drown the whole city, instead of just stopping every weapon and vehicle, sending down a couple of drones, and retrieve the girl? They seem like logical people, who value life, even the life of aliens.
The alien device: The girl has a device, she got from the alien guy. The aliens know the girl has this device, and she had some practice with the use of it. They've sent some kind of military spaceship to solve this. Yet, the girl is able to cripple the spaceship with the use of her device. Didn't the aliens prepare for this? How come that they don't have defences against one of their own devices? If that device is such a powerful weapon, why did the alien guy just give it to the girl in the first place?

How does it compare to the other works of the creators?
From the writers (Andrey Zolotarev & Oleg Malovichko) I've also seen Sputnik (2020), that was almost good. Attraction (2017) is a lot weaker. Invasion is worse. This makes me cautions of their future works.
From the director (Fedor Bondarchuk) I've seen Inhabited Island, that was good, and Attraction (2017), that was okay. The direction might have been good even in this one, but it's still a boring film.
How does it compare to the other films in the series?
Invasion is a worse, less intelligent movie than Attraction (2017) was.
