Showdown in Bartertown #2

A Sektur mercenary band, called the Swords of Garak started a showdown against the Orcs of the Golden Legion. After successfully catching an orc legionary in the alleyways of Bartertown, they grew bold and decided to keep fighting and try to get the orcs one by one.

Terrain rules: Because the event happens at night, the light zones show areas that are lit by torches, providing a clear line of sight. Targets in the shadow zones can be targeted with a subtraction. The walls printed on the scenery count as fences, which provide cover but can be climbed over. The walls of buildings cannot be climbed, but they can be climbed via the ladders on their side.

Groups

Swords of Garak: 1x soldier leader in armour, with sword and shield, 4x veteran soldier in armour, with sword and shield

Golden Legion: 1x orc legionary, in full plate armour, with two-handed weapon and shield. The shield doesn't show up on the miniature as accessory, but the forearm guard has a shield-like design that lends itselft to be used as a shield.

Aghar, the Destroyer, watched an exciting gladiator battle in the Daggersong tavern and headed home from there. On the way, though, he had the feeling that someone was following him under the cover of the night. He made sure to do so by making a loop. A company of five Sekturs stalked behind him, with swords in their hands. The orc tried to shake them off, but failed, and as the mercenaries realized they had been exposed by the orc, they caught up with them to attack.

Seeing him cornered, Aghar prepared for the attack. There was a ladder nearby, so he climbed quickly to prevent the entire team from rushing at once.

Dog-whiskers Kash, the leader of the Sekturs, seeing the orc trying to avoid a direct collision, ran toward the orc and was followed by his companions. The mercenaries ran down the ladder running. As the orc swung their hammer in their direction, they tried to climb the ladder. The orc had already begun to get into the dinghy here as he noticed that he had no escape route.

Alkony Wargame system: It depends on the size of the characters how far they can attack. The height of the mercenaries is not enough to reach the orc on the top of the house. But the orc is tall enough to reach the mercenaries below it.

After a few swaps, the mercenaries succeed in pushing back the orc. Ascending mercenaries flutter enough to prevent the orc from focusing on the attack.

The orc seized by the rising mercenaries could not prevent the other mercenaries from climbing the ladder. That's when the real fight began, the mercenaries gave in all their might, but the orc was very tough. Eventually, however, the orc was overthrown by the overpower and Aghar surrendered to the Sekturs.

Aftermath: Aghar survived the battle and even recovered from his injuries after being captured by the Sekturs.

Evaluation of the game

Golden Legion: After the previous battle, I was hoping that the legionary could stand on top of the ladder against the two attackers, but it didn't work out. It was useless for another 8 rounds against mercenary power if the throws came out so I couldn't get any hits. If I had pulled back to the corner of the roof, they would not have been able to attack sideways, but with every hit, there would have been a chance that the Legion would fall off the roof. It was a serious lesson for me to never stop fighting overpower, even though they wouldn't be opponents to the Legion one by one.

Swords of Garak: I was a little afraid that the orc would kill the mercenaries under the ladder one by one, but I managed to get up for the second attempt. I knew from previous combat that it was just a matter of patience to land the orc, but I was excited because it took a very long time and if you were lucky you could easily kill 1-2 people and from there the victory would not be would be sure.
