Review - HorrorClix Base Starter Game Set map miniature scenery from WizKids
The HorrorClix Base Starter Game Set map is a double sided poster that is folded.
The folds may get some wear with use, unless you seal it somehow, or paint over the damaged folds.
The surface is shiny, but I think it's unavoidable, unless you use matte spray to remove the shine.
The mat won't stay flat from itself. Probably it will help if you put weights on it, or use adhesive putty to stick it to your playing surface.
Both sides depict creepy places. Side A) a cemetery, while Side B) an abandoned mansion.
The map is pretty big. Here is a shot of it with the miniatures from the starter set.
Possible uses
You can cut up the map into separate tiles you can use to create your own layouts. However you have to choose one of the sides for this purpose. If you cut the map up, you can glue the pieces to a cardboard base for additional stability.
Possible improvements
Put the folds on the edges of terrain, or at least on the grid lines. That way a damaged fold won't cut the art in half.

Size comparison of the The Eiras Contract tiles miniature scenery from Mantic Games with 1:56 (28mm / 32mm) scale HorrorClix Base Starter Game Set map from WizKids. |
The matching of the Star Saga tiles and the HorrorClix mat is not perfect, but they are not that far off. As the Star Saga has a 1 inch grid, while HorrorClix a 1.5 inch grid, you only need to multiply the Star Saga grids with 1.5, so a 3x3 Star Saga tile will fit into a 2x2 HorrorClix grid.
