Review - Infested Insurgent #2 of the Malignancy for Macrocosm Sci-Fi from Macrocosm Miniatures

Several of the minis had bent gun barrels. I managed to bend them back, but one of them broke off from the force of applying primer by brush. Those tiny barrels are not essential though, as their SMGs look fine even without them. The broken and bent barrels give these minis a more ragtag look.

Some of the minis look strange as if the legs were sculpted separately and then a body was added later. It's not much of a problem as it can only be seen from below, so it won't show during a normal game.

Although the detail is nice, some parts look like the sculptor got interrupted and then they were forgotten. One of them has bracers that would hold the kneepads, and the outer sides are done, but the inner sides are missing on both legs.

Most of them has some integrated equipment on their belts - 2 kinds of pouches, and something with a stick (most likely a grenade). These are copies of the same sculpt, While it's good that the minis come in one piece so there's no need for assembly, in an additional set I'd like to see them as separate accessories, as it would give a greater variety for the figures.

Their slottabase tabs don't fit their slottabases tightly, so you'll need some filler to help that.

Some of the minis have something on their neck - it can be a rebreather, voice amplification device, or some fancy cloak brooch.

They are interesting (some might say weird) looking figures, that look like they've just stepped off a 2000AD strip. Neck collars, kneepads, hoodies, that makes them a good choice for any Judge Dredd block war.

What I don't particularly like is that they are uniformed. This would be nice if they weren't just some discontent rabble that took arms. I don't think there would be specialised insurgent stores in the future where rebels could buy some nice, fitting clothes.

Painting

Painting them was easy. Although there are some hard to reach spots, they are also hard to see, so it didn't bother me much.
