Opening the package
Review
This expansion offers some French flavour to your games.
The ships: The longships add the option of flanking the enemy ships, as you get two of them. The still get only 5 objectives, two on one of the ships, three on the other. The Brise have two deck guns, so they have more firepower than the ships in the base set. There is two crew deployment points on both ships, but you can still use only three of them in a single turn. The deployment point on the ship with the single deck plank is set up in a way that the two deployment points both pour the crew on the single objective, thus protecting it more.
The ships have a similar length (9 zones) as the usual, large ships (those are 10 zones long), but just two zones wide instead of the usual three.
The crew: The crew adds some variety for the crews of the base set. They are not totally different from those, just a variation of abilities.
The miniatures look piratey enough. The bosun is slightly smaller than the deckhands, and it can be confusing to find the bosun among your crew.
The Heroes get additional abilities that lets you move them easier via the rigging. The rigging abilities will come handy, as you'll need to be able to move your heroes from one of your ships to the other if you want to protect it.
The Tide Deck lets the crew stay in battle for a longer time due to the healing cards and special abilities.
