Showdown in Bartertown #6
Alarik and his associates had heard that the orcs of the Golden Legion had repeatedly clashed with a Sektur mercenary team the Swords of Garak the previous night (#1, #2, #3, #4, #5). Hoping that they didn't clean everything up, they set out to return the injured to the original owners for a ransom and to sell their equipment to a fence. While walking around, they found a wounded Sektur soldier lying alone...
The wounded soldier lies in the middle of the gaming area, on the top of the house. The adventurers started from the upper left corner.
Rules: In the solo game, the three adventurers were the only predetermined team. At the end of each round, we drew one from the event cards in the Massive Darkness base set, to find out what happened. The goblin cards meant kobolds, the orc cards meant a cannibal, the dwarf cards meant a lizardman. The wandering monsters were members of the Golden Legion and the Swords of Garak. Each corner of the gaming area was marked with a token with a number, and every time something arrived, a dice roll determined the location to which the model would arrive.
Each round began with the actions of the players, followed by the non-player characters' actions.
The players decided to use zone-based movement - so a normal movement allowed a movement of one zone on the board.
Terrain rules: The walls printed on the scenery count as fences, which provide cover but can be climbed over. The walls of buildings cannot be climbed, but they can be climbed via the ladders on their side.
Groups
Alarik's adventurer band: 1x rogue (Alarik), 1x archer, 1x warrior. The warrior model is in armor and holds a sword and shield, but the warrior actually only has a dagger.

Alarik, the Jaraxi thief girl and her adventurer companions, an archer and a warrior, noticed from the top of a tower a tied up Sektur mercenary on a rooftop crying for help. In an earlier battle, cannibals captured the fighter and hid him for later, but a Golden Legion Orc slaughtered the leaders of the band and the cannibals escaped, leaving the mercenary behind.
The adventurers quickly climbed down the tower and approached the scene. As they approached the building, they started to act more cautious.
Upon hearing the cries of the Sektur, a lizardman bandit appeared on the roof of an adjacent building.
Alarik stepped on the ladder to climb to the top of the building, while the warrior headed for the plank to reach the Sektur from the side.
The archer shot the lizardman, but did not succeed with it. Alarik managed to climb the ladder to the roof. From here he had a better view of the area.
It wasn't long before Alarik was so high that he noticed a totally healthy Sektur warrior crouching beside the wounded one, removing his ropes. If that weren't enough for bad news, an orc legionary, Kandar, emerged from a nearby alley.
The Sektur warrior jumped up as he saw Alarik. She tried to convince him that she was just a good-willed passer-by, who came to the rescue, and asked him to lend a hand in the fight against the evil lizardman, who was just a vicious scavenger looking for loot. The Sektur was not impressed by the attempt, as he had heard earlier that she had talked with her associates about sharing the money planned to get for selling the carcass of the Sektur.
Alkony Wargame system: Alarik, in addition to the basics of theft, also had a Persuasion skill with a target number of 4. The referee decided that, if successful, despite the hostile situation, the Sektur would join them until they defeated the lizardman and the orc. However, the thief girl failed her trial.
While the girl tried to persuad the mercenary, her archer companion moved to look get a better view of the lizardman and the mercenary. The lizardman walked straight toward the mercenary. A kobold archer also appeared behind the lizardman.
The archer adventurer shot the mercenary in vain, he dodged her arrows. The mercenary stormed the lizardman. started to brawl with him. In the end the lizardman fell down from the bridge, breaking his neck from the fall. The mercenary couldn't be happy for a long time, as the nearby kobold archer had his throat pierced and he soon bled out.
As the orc legionary was almost on him, the warrior adventurer on the rooftop decided to push the wounded mercenary for whom they had come here off the rooftop. Alarik quickly climbed down the ladder to rob him.
The kobold archer was followed by a kobold champion, who, with his shrieking voice, commanded the gathering of the nearby kobolds.
Alkony Wargame system: An agent is drawn from the Massive Darkness cards. This means that as long as the kobold champion is alive, there will be another kobold arriving at the end of each turn.
The archer adventurer shot the goblin archer down.
As the legionary progressed, the warrior retreated. For a moment he turned to cut the ropes that bridged the bridge, but quickly realized that it would take more time than the orc would reach him.
While the others were busy fighting, Alarik had time to remove the armour of the dying Sektur.
The archer and warrior began to retreat as the team had got its loot. Although their route was blocked by a cannibal, the archer quickly got rid of that. The orc legionary climbing down the ladder, however, cut the escape route of the thief. The warrior decided to loot the cannibal while they were waiting for her.
The orc legionary charged Alarik. It was Alarik's incredible luck that the injury hadn't killed her. In exchange for her life, the girl offered the orc the looted armor.
Alkony Wargame system: The thief girl has been awarded a Fate point for her loot. She spent it to get better results on her dice roll.
While the orc legionary was busy bashing her, the archer took his time aiming and managed to shoot him in the back. The shot did not kill the legionary, but it gave Alarik a chance to escape.
The archer and warrior decided to take the injured cannibal with them to see if they could sell it as a slaves, at worst, sell his corpse back to his cannibal buddies. Then they left the scene.
Meanwhile the kobolds were gathering together, looting the fallen people on their way.
Aftermath
The captured Sektur warrior was not in good condition even when he was tied up, but when the adventurers knocked him off the roof, he died.
The lizardman died a monster from the fall.
The Sektur mercenary was shot dead by the goblin archer.

Evaluation of the game
Alarik: It was a useful lesson to see how unlucky I was while rolling the dice. Practically only those tests were successes that were automatically succesful, and I needn't have to roll a dice.
