Review - The Eiras Contract tiles miniature scenery from Mantic Games

The tiles do not have connectors, you just put them beside each other to build the layout. The tiles have a grid, with the size of 25mm (1"), just like most similar boardgame.

The artwork on the tile shows the interior of a futuristic base or spaceship. There's also plenty of blood stains, red ink or tomato sauce splattered around the tiles, so they might belong to a slaughterhouse or vegetable warehouse.

The tiles are 2 sided, but most of them feature similar artwork on both sides. There are only a couple of tiles that are really different, like the tile with the elevator shaft, or tiles with equipment thrown around on the floor.

The board pieces are small, and there's no way to attach them, like the Space Hulk / Doom / Imperial Assault boards. This means they will come apart easily, and as they are small pieces, the whole scene comes apart into several parts.

The small pieces are also a problem due to the setup maps not being entirely clear about what pieces should you use. You check the map, and try to come up with the setup by laying out the puzzle.

It's not easy to notice the grid on the tiles, but most of the time you can guess it, and it won't be that much of a problem during Star Saga games anyway.

Although the Deadzone zones are larger than Star Saga tiles, they are compatible in size. A 3x3 tile fills a Deadzone zone.

You can totally cover the outside of the First Strike Armoured Containers with 9x6 tiles from The Eiras Contract tiles without overlapping. If you turn the container scenery upside down, you can fill the bottom with tiles. You can also cover the inside walls. Those are 2 tiles high, so you can cover them with some 2x3 tiles, but there will be a small overlap.

The Star Wars Miniatures Game uses a similar 25mm grid as Star Saga, so the tiles fit the mat.

The Dungeons & Dragons games usually use a similar 25mm grid as Star Saga. The Star Saga the tiles fit this mat, and most likely fit the similar D&D mats.

The matching of the Star Saga tiles and the HorrorClix mat is not perfect, but they are not that far off. A 4x4 HorrorClix area matches a 3x3 Star Saga tile.

The Doom board game tiles can be used with the Star Saga tiles. Both game uses a 25x25mm grid, the difference is that the Doom tiles have an additional edge, and they have puzzle connectors, so you need to add a closing tile before you could continue your layout with the Star Saga tiles.
