This is my review of 2067, a futuristic sci-fi / fantasy adventure movie from 2020. It's about a team sent to a secret mission to save a dystopian future society. The 2067 film is boring, I don't recommend it to anyone.
If you'd like to be surprised by the 2067 film, I don't recommend you to watch the trailer. Even if you already know the basic premise of the story, don't watch it beyond 1:05, because it gives away too much of the plot.

Review (spoiler-free) - 2067, movie (2020)
I didn't know anything about this movie when I've run into it. I like futuristic and sci-fi movies, so I thought to give this a try. I didn't read reviews or watched the trailer before watching the 2067 film.
The 2067 movie is about a team sent to a secret mission to save a dystopian future society.
The story is boring. The concept is based on bad logic, making the whole plot flawed. Many scenes are repeated to hammer them into the viewer. It's hard to categorise the movie, as it looks like a sci-fi film, but the "science" is mainly fantasy, and they don't even stick to their own fantasy rules.
The cinematography is okay. The settings were varied, making the story slightly more interesting visually. There were some nice shots of the futuristic city.
We don't get to really know the characters, even though there are not many of them. The actors are somewhat wooden. They might have been fitting to the characters (who were simplistic workers), but watching them in action was boring. The young version of the protagonist was a particularly bad choice - the kid was a chubby white child with curly ginger hair, while the adult version had darker skin, and straight dark hair. It wasn't really convincing.
The music (by Kenneth Lampl & Kirsten Axelholm) is okay.
2067 is a boring futuristic sci-fi / fantasy adventure, that I think only very dedicated fans of the genre could enjoy.
My experience
I wasn’t satisfied with 2067 (2020).
Rating: Weak (2- out of 3 points). 2067 has some interesting ideas buried in a mediocre movie.
Enjoyment: Weak (2- out of 3 points). 2067 is boring and stupid.
Rewatchability: I'm not sure. I think it's mostly the surprise of the story that makes you feel interested.
Chance of watching it again: No.
Chance of watching a sequel: I'd probably watch it.

I didn't like the 2067 movie.
The whole thing didn't look bad, and the basic premise was also acceptable. In the hands of a good writer, this could have been a good movie.

The cover of the movie is okay, it doesn't say much, but it doesn't spoil the movie.
The trailer
The trailer is not very efficient, as after a promising start, it starts showing major spoilers.
If you prefer spoilers, it's a great trailer for the 2067 film. If you prefer to avoid spoilers, it will ruin the movie for you.
Promise of the first scene
There's a malfunction in the generator of the city. A technician repairs it. I have no clue where will this lead. Reading the premise, I don't think the story will be about the generator.
Execution: Well, we can consider the world having a problem, and the technician repaired it, but I'm not really sure this was intentional.
Plot summary / Synopsis
2067: There's a boy (Kodi Smit-McPhee as Ethan Whyte) and his friend (Ryan Kwanten as Jude Mathers), who are working on the generator in the tunnels of a dystopian city. They are paid in oxygen for their work. They are eager to get more access to oxygen, so they take the work of a man, who asks for a sick leave, and instead gets fired. The boy has a girlfriend (Sana'a Shaik as Xanthe Whyte), who is sick from the bad quality air. Many people have the same sickness.
One day the boy is called to a superior, who reveals that the sickness from the bad air will kill the rest of humanity in a couple of years. However, 20 years ago, the father of the boy have built a prototype time machine. Now, they have received a signal through it, from 400 years in the future, asking for the boy to be sent. They hope that whoever sent the signal, will give some instructions to the boy on saving humanity. It might have something to do with the device his father fitted permanently to the wrist of the boy 20 years ago. First, the boy is reluctant to leave, but his friend and girlfriend persuade him to go.
2400s: The boy is sent to the future with a portable computer. He arrives in a forest, and the air is breathable. He finds a bunker. There's a skeleton in front of the bunker, wearing the same device the boy has, and the same portable computer. It also has a bullet hole in its skull. When he gets hungry, he eats poisonous berries that make him sick.
His friend is sent after him, and he rescues the boy. Together they find a door into the bunker, and the device on the boy's wrist is revealed to be a DNA analyser, allowing the boy to control the facility. The system starts up, and it will be active in four hours. It is revealed that they've created a communication device that can send signals back in time. They've created a monitoring station that analyses the air, and it will send back a signal if it's breathable again. Then, they will know when to send people so they'll have fresh air, once they are able to send matter through the time machine. They also hoped to get information how to cure the sickness. However, they couldn't send anyone, because there was a power failure in the bunker, and they can only send matter if both ends are working.
They repair the the generator of the bunker. Then they search the nearby city, to find that everybody died, there are no survivors. The records show them that they never intended to cure the people of the city, they just wanted to send a select few into the future. The father used his son's DNA to allow command to the bunker. So, in order to repair the generator of the bunker, the boy had to be sent. His father was killed by the superior, and the friend of the boy was actually an agent sent to monitor him, until the right time arrives to send the boy.
The friend, revealed to be an agent, first wants to kill the boy, but as he is unable to do so, he commits suicide. The boy sends back the message to the 2047 requesting himself to be sent, and to 2067, he sends the record of the murder of his father, and live samples of plants. Then he destroys the time machine in the bunker.
2067: They arrest the superior.
2400s: This changes the surrounding area - the overgrown bunker is still there, but the skeleton is gone, and he finds a populated city where the ruined city was.
The setting
2067 is set in the future of our Earth, in 2067. The world is barren, climate change destroyed the human civilisation, and every plant died due to pollution. There's only one city left in the world, that produces breathable air, however, it's still toxic enough that extended use causes death.
They have created a time machine.

The time machine and time travel
They can only send people through the time machine if both sides are working. Except for the boy and his friend, who can be sent without a problem.
Time travel to the past changes the present, but people coming from the original past still remember their own past, instead of the new one.
The message of the story
I'm not sure there's one.
The structure of the story
The scenes of the 2067 film are mostly played in sequence, following the same storyline. There are multiple flashback scenes, and the characters also watch videos set in the past.
There's no single viewpoint character.
It has the usual arc of the dramatic structure - introduction, action, resolution.

From the director (Seth Larney), I haven't seen anything else.
This is the first feature film of the writers - the treatment writer (Gavin Scott Davis), the writers (Dave Paterson, Seth Larney), and the dialogue writer (Gareth Davies).

Analysis of the story - 2067, movie (2020)
I didn’t like the story, there were so many problems that prevented me from enjoying 2067.
Problematic elements
The title: Using dates in the title is a weak choice, especially as it doesn't carry any importance. The use of numbers could be justified - for example in 2:22, movie (2017), Nine (2009) or even in 9 (2009) -, but here, it could be any other number, and the movie would be the same.
Time travel: They didn't really think the time travel through, and that's a bad thing for a story based on time travel.
- The whole resolution is based on a paradox - vegetation died out in the past, but the protagonist travels into a future forest to send back vegetation samples into the past so they can restart planting the forest. However, the whole forest wouldn't exist unless they have already planted it in the past. However, we see that for the first try the forest already exist, yet, humanity died out. How did that past happen?
- Also, what's up with the skeleton? Why did somebody put it there? As the protagonist didn't travel into the past, it shouldn't be there anyway. As I understand it, the boy was supposed to go back to 2067 with his friend, who'd killed him then, and left the body there for the next 400 years. But their superiors didn't want to let them return anyway, and even if they did, why would they left the body there? And even if they left it, why didn't it get destroyed in the next 400 years?
- If he had saved the past, why is the bunker still in disrepair? Why didn't the locals constantly repair it?
- As they can only send people into a working time machine, why didn't they send the people just before the malfunction? Then they could have waited for the malfunction to happen, and repair it immediately.
The boy: The actor, who plays the boy as a child has white skin, and curly red hair. The adult version has brown skin, and normal dark hair. How did he change his looks?
Marvelling at something mundane: When he arrives, the boys takes a really good look of the forest, as he had never seen such a thing. That would be okay, but as the audience had seen plenty of trees, so for us, it's just boring to watch him.

Possibilities of improvement
The title: Come up with something catchy. Even a corny title, like "The Savior of the Doomsday World" or "Return to the World's End" would be better.
The boy: Add some exposition, telling that they've changed his DNA for some reason. For example, the device that his father gave him, modified his cell structure so he'd be able to use travel travel with minimal side effects.
Marvelling at something mundane: Cut or shorten these scenes.

The machine: The defender has a machine they want to use for evil purposes. The attacker wants to stop this, they are ready to destroy the machine, but they would be better off with the machine intact. The defender sets up the playing area, including a defensible building in the middle. In that building, place a machine, a generator, and some important devices. Activating the machine takes time - for example, 10 turns. If an attacker model gets in base contact with the machine, it can switch it off. A defender can switch it back on, but it restarts the timer. The machine and the generator can only be damaged by heavy weapons. The important devices can be damaged by regular weapons. A damaged thing can be repaired by spending actions. If they get enough damage, they are destroyed. The timer will stop, and the machine won't work if either the generator is damaged / destroyed, or all of the important devices are damaged / destroyed. First, the defender sets up their army anywhere on the playing area. Then the attacker units enter from any of the edges. The defender wins if they are able to activate the machine. The attacker wins if they are able to defeat the attackers, while none of the parts are destroyed. It's a draw if the machine or any important parts are destroyed.
