  • International Tabletop Day 2017 Miskolc - Event coverage

The Nexus Club took part in the International Tabletop Day 2017 gaming event on Miskolc, at 2017.04.30. On the convention, organised by the Gémeskút community, the visitors could try several board games all day long. From the CoolMiniOrNot there was Zombicide and Arcadia Quest, from Mantic Games the Deadzone, from Petersen Games the Cthulhu Wars, beside Adrenaline, Carcassone, Castles of Mad King Ludwig, Lost Cities, Escape, Goa, Kemet, Saltlands, and some others I did not recognise.

Wargames - Playing Deadzone Ed2 on the Makettfesztivál Miskolc 2017 (2017.02.18-19) - Warpath Gameplay narrative

I had a chance to attend the Makettfesztivál Miskolc 2017 on 2017.02.18-19, where I organised a couple of Deadzone Ed2 demos. There were lots of kids eager to play games. I tried to set up my Battlezones. Necromunda and Infinity scenery I prepared for the event, but as the kids were harrassing me to start playing, I gave up, and just used my trusty Nexus Studio container buildings. This is a retelling of the games played on the convention, at least what I remember from them. To fit with the previous gameplay narratives, I'll probably set the story in the universe of the Imperial Space setting at a later date.

    Article updated: 2016.12.30

There was a club gathering at The Forge Club on 2016.12.28, where I organised a Deadzone Ed2 demo. After a quick warm-up game, there was an interesting battle between Fedák Zsombor and his friend, two youngsters who never played Deadzone before, but they were eager to try it. This is a retelling of the events that happened. To fit with the previous gameplay narratives, I set the story in the universe of the Imperial Space setting.

On the Games Day Budapest 2016 I was invited by Nagy Péter (Petrow) to play a game of Deadzone Ed2 with him. Even though we have played a Deadzone game, to continue the story that started in the previous Afterlife gameplay narrative, I will include elements of the Imperial Space setting. I try to recount the events that occured on that day.

Wargames - Afterlife playtest on Games Day Budapest 2016 - Gameplay

    Article updated: 2016.12.29

I played a game of Afterlife  Ed1 v1.3 with Tóth Dániel (Grosh) on Games Day Budapest 2016. This is the account of the events that occured there.

The game was played for an Ellenor Renard miniature as a prize, so we have created a story around that during the convention. As I'm still unfamilar with the Afterlife universe, I'm writing the narrative incorporating the elements of the Imperial Space setting. The Unity Council forces became the Imperial army, Ellenor became Doctor Daniele Thomassen, a field medic, the Marine Corps became Imperial Marines, the Ajax Exo-suits became Imperial Knights, and the Pan Continental Republic forces became the soldiers of the local militia.

The Nexus Club visited Games Day Budapest 2016 to do demonstrations of sci-fi wargames. In cooperation with The Forge Club, Scenery World Workshop commission terrain maker studio, and Nagy Péter (Petrow) from Keszthely, we brought demos of Alien vs Predator, Deadzone and Dreadball. There were dozens of other wargames and boardgames demos all around the area. The Golden Gobbo painting competition was also held here. Several gaming stores had a stand here with reduced prices, and there was a bits market for miniature collectors.

Bukta "Vihar" Zoltán sent the Nexus Club a copy of the Hungarian version of the Descent boardgame. Although most of the miniatures are missing, these can be substituted from the collection of the club. He even painted the heroes for us! Thank you very much for the donation, we've been looking for this game for a long time!

Richard Blizzard was kind enough to give an Eldar gravtank and a scenery piece to the Nexus Club. This is our first Eldar vehicle, so I'll try to gather some Eldar minis to use with it! Although it's missing its tower and the cockpit window, I'll come up with something to make it whole. Thank you very much for this gift!

Aradi Gábor gave the Nexus Club a nice scratch-built hut, and some Games Workshop miniatures from his collection. The Skaven ratman and the Chaos Dwarves for Warhammer Fantasy Battles will be a nice addition to our growing armies! The Skaven are older sculpts, a lot more cute than the recent, vile ones, so they can be used as humanoid mice too, for more child-friendly games. The miniatures came painted, and they look lovely! Thank you very much, we will put them to good use!

    Donation from Antenociti's Workshop

Antenociti's Workshop donated a big box of futuristic scenery for the use of Nexus Club. These are supposedly miscasts, but if that is true, they have very strict quality control, as they look flawless to me. We are grateful for these gifts, we will make good use of them in our sci-fi games!

The gift came just in time to impress the visitors of the Makettfesztivál 2016, a miniatures convention organized in Miskolc, Hungary. The little generals quickly took possession of the miniatures to enthusiastically wage war with the help of the older members.

Some of the guests didn't bother themselves with any kind of written rules, just had a good time playing with the beautifully painted miniatures using their own imagination to create cute stories. (The illustration shows a little girl trying to balance each and every Blood Angel miniature on top of the tank for some strategical reason.)
